Our editorial standards
CareGuide UK publishes plain-English guides to UK eldercare, funding, and legal topics. Every page is researched against authoritative UK sources, reviewed for accuracy, and updated when guidance changes. We are editorially independent — no provider pays to influence our content.
How we research our guides
All content is researched against primary UK sources including NHS England, the Care Quality Commission, the Office of the Public Guardian, GOV.UK, and NICE guidelines. We do not reproduce or paraphrase American guidance. Where regulations or funding rules vary across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, we note this clearly.
Our review process
Each guide is written by a member of the editorial team and reviewed by a qualified professional with relevant expertise — a care manager, solicitor, or independent financial adviser depending on the topic. The reviewer's name and review date appear on every applicable page via a "Last reviewed" badge.
How we handle YMYL topics
Care funding, legal matters, and health decisions are what Google classifies as "Your Money or Your Life" topics — areas where inaccurate information can cause real harm. We treat these with extra caution. We do not give legal or financial advice. Where professional advice is needed, we say so clearly and signpost accordingly.
Our sources policy
We cite only authoritative UK sources. Where external sources are linked, they open in a new tab and are listed in a Sources panel at the bottom of each relevant page. We do not accept payment to link to any source.
Commercial relationships and editorial independence
CareGuide UK is funded by provider listing fees and referral arrangements with solicitors and independent financial advisers. These commercial relationships never influence editorial content. Providers cannot pay to appear in or be excluded from editorial guides. Our matching service recommends providers based on suitability to the family's needs, not on listing tier.
Corrections and updates
If you believe any content on CareGuide UK is inaccurate, please contact us at editorial@care-guide.co.uk <TODO: confirm email>. We will review and correct within 5 working days. Material corrections are noted at the top of the relevant page.
How often content is updated
Care funding thresholds, CQC inspection frameworks, and legal requirements change regularly. We review all funding and legal pages at least annually, and update immediately when significant policy changes occur. The "Last reviewed" date on each page reflects when content was last verified.
